Alfred Flinchum, 90, of 4354 Lead Mine Road, Hiwassee (Snowville Community), passed away Monday, November 20, 2006 at his home.

Born July 28, 1916 in Montgomery County, he was the son of the late Claude and Alice Turman Flinchum. One brother, Henry Aaron Flinchum, also preceded him in death.

He was a 1935 graduate of Auburn High School where he was the Valedictorian of his class. He joined the Wilson’s Grove Primitive Baptist Church in August of 1955 and served as church clerk for many years. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was retired from Burlington & Klopman Industries with over 30 years of service.

Surviving is his wife of 66 years, Edith Hester Simpkins Flinchum, Hiwassee; son, Aaron Rudolph “Rudy” Flinchum, Johnson City, Tenn.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski with Elder Kenneth Hopkins officiating. Interment will follow at the Simpkins Family Cemetery (Simpkinstown).
