Rowena Davis Fletcher, 79, of Roanoke and formerly of Pearisburg, went to be with the Lord Saturday May 24, 2008, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Pearisburg, Va. on January 30, 1929, to the late Charlie Lee Davis and Hazel Fleeman Lindsey Davis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Fletcher II; a brother, Charlie Jr. Davis; sisters, Jacqualine Davis and Janice Davis; daughter-in-law, Jane Fletcher.

She is survived by one son, Jack Fletcher III, of Roanoke; one granddaughter, Wendy Fletcher Lawson, of Richmond; one sister, Mary Jane Smith, of Ozark, Alabama; one brother, Tommy Davis, of Pearisburg; one uncle, Bud Fleeman and wife, Joyce, of Roanoke; sister-in-law, Phyllis Miller, of Newport; special caregiver and friend, Jean Thompson, of Roanoke; special friend, Sally Nunley, of Roanoke; several nieces, nephews and friends.

Rowena retired from C & P Telephone Company with 45 years service. She was a Christian lady and an inspiration to many.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. in The Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with burial following at Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg.
