Virginia Carper Fleshman, 98, of Waynesboro went to be with the Lord on June 14, 2022 at Waynesboro Manor. She was born September 3, 1923 in Cashmere, WV, daughter of the late Charles Hampton Carper and Blanche Weaver Carper.

She was a member of First Baptist Waynesboro, and a former member of Peterstown Missionary Baptist Church, Peterstown, WV where she was active in choir, the Kathleen Hamm Circle, and the Greenbrier Assoc. of American Baptist Missions. She was a Past Worthy Matron of the Peterstown Chapter #118 of the Order of Eastern Star and was a member of Peterstown Woman’s Club.

Virginia enjoyed sewing, quilting, flower gardening, and playing bridge. She also was an excellent cook and baker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Russell Fleshman, of 59 years, married September 6, 1946, her brothers, Richard and Charles Jr. Carper, her sisters, Ellen Long, and Catherine Booth, and four nephews. She is survived by one son, Jim Fleshman and wife, Barbara of Hendersonville, NC and a daughter, Connie Fleshman Shrader and husband, Tim, of Waynesboro, VA; four grandchildren, Jeff Fleshman and wife, Melissa of Dallas, TX, Elizabeth Fleshman of Asheville, NC, Jennifer Shrader of Stuarts Draft, VA, and Jesse Shrader and wife, Allie of Woodstock, VA; four great-grandchildren, Patrick Cyhanick of Stuarts Draft, VA, and Everett, Cora, and Vienna Fleshman, of Dallas, TX. She is also survived by two nephews and two nieces. Virginia is the last surviving member of her immediate family.

The family would like to thank the staff of Waynesboro Manor and Hospice of the Shenandoah who helped with her care and provided her with love. She lived a long and wonderful life and her family will miss her deeply.

A graveside service will be conducted at the Orchard Cemetery of Ballard, WV at 2:00PM on Saturday, June 18, 2022, officiated by Rev. Jon Jennings. The family will receive friends from 11:30AM to 1:30PM on Saturday at Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home in Peterstown, WV.

A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Waynesboro at 2:00PM on June 25, 2022 by the Rev. Larry Jones.
