James Elmo Fleshman, 74, of the Little Creek Community, Dublin passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2014. He was born on December 9, 1939 in Alleghany County, Va. He was preceded in death by his father, Elmo Young Fleshman. He was the owner of Jim’s Grocery, was a life time member of West End Rescue Square, Richmond, Va. and Pulaski County Rescue Squad. James was well known in his community and county.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Dulaney Fleshman; his mother and step-father, Beulah and Harold Taylor, Stanley, N.C.; one daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Charles McDonald, of Dublin, Va.; two sons, James Elmo Fleshman, Jr. and Jeffrey William Fleshman, of Dublin, Va.; three sisters, Dorothy and Jerry Burks, of Covington, Va.; Vaughna Shank, Roanoke, Va.; Michaelene and Mike Buffeto, Richmond, Va.,; two grandchildren, Johnathan Ryan Vest and Laura Elizabeth McDonald; one step-grandchild Zackery Jarrells; two step-granddaughters, Faith Davis and Samantha Lineberry; brother-in-law, C. W. Dulaney, Jr., Dublin; sisters-in-law, Barbara Rotenberry, of Hillsville, Va.; Kathleen and Buck Ware, Richmond, Va.; special friends, Paul and Dianna Hage and all of his store family.

Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 18, 2014at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home, White Gate, Va.with the Rev. David Butcher officiating. Military graveside rites by the Pulaski V.F.W. Post #1184 at the Fleshman-Dulaney Cemetery, Dublin, VA. Visitation will be Friday, October 17, 2014from 6 to 8 p.m.at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to Juvenile Diabetes Fund, 3959 Electric Road, Roanoke, VA, 24018 in memory of James.
