David Rufus Fleeman, 58, of Narrows, Va., passed away on Monday, November 24, 2008, at his home. A lifelong resident of Giles County, he was born on August 25, 1950, and was the son of Mrs. Lula Blankenship Fleeman, of Narrows, and the late Milton David Fleeman. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Lewis Fleeman.

David was a retired employee of Celanese Acetate in Narrows with 28 years of service. David enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

In addition to his mother, he leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 36 years, Rita Hughes Fleeman; a son, Keith Fleeman and wife, Angel, of Narrows; a daughter, Kristie Williams and husband, Rick, of Newport; five grandchildren, Zachary, Joshua and Jacob Fleeman, all of Narrows, and Makena and Jase Williams, both of Newport; one sister, Lena Kast and husband, Bud, of Narrows; a brother, Jerry Fleeman and wife, Sue, of Wayside; three nieces; and seven nephews.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. on Wednesday, November 26, 2008, in the Chapel of Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows with the Rev. Jim Hagy officiating. Burial follow in Angels Rest Cemetery near Narrows.
