fisher irene estelleIrene Estelle Fisher, 94, of Pearisburg, departed this life Wednesday morning, September 28, 2011 at her home after a long illness. Born in Pembroke on July 25, 1917, she was a daughter of the late Jess and Lilly Price Barnett. A devout Christian, she was a member of Riverview Baptist Church in Ripplemead, was retired from the Celanese Plant, and was famous for her pies, and ability to mother everyone. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Estle Payne Fisher; her son, Roger P. Fisher, her sisters, Nancy Baker and Dolly Hubble; and her brothers Joe, Justin, Donald, and James Barnett. She leaves to cherish her memory her sons and daughters-in-law, Rayburn and Shelby Fisher, of Ironto and Ronnie and Sharon Fisher, of Pearisburg; her daughter and son-in-law, Faye and Bill Fulton, of Chesapeake; her daughter-in-law, Pat Fisher, of Pearisburg; her sister, Kathleen Walters, of Roanoke; her eleven grandchildren; her fifteen great-grandchildren; and her one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. at Riverview Baptist Church in Ripplemead with Pastor Shahn Wilburn officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Kenneth Walker, her physician, and to Joyce Robertson, her caregiver, for their professional and compassionate care for Irene.
