November 30, 1929 – February 20, 2018 Juanita Finney-Dortch was born on November 30, 1929 to Willie Lee Finney and Gladys Gertrude Edwards in Floyd County, Virginia. She was the oldest of six children. Juanita Dortch was preceded in death by her husband Ernest Dortch, and son James Rudolph Finney. Her siblings were Mary Eveline Finney-Cannady, brothers James Elmer Finney and Samuel Rudolph Finney also preceded her in death.

She is survived by her brother, Henry Lee Finney of Leesburg, Virginia and sister Alice Roberta Williams of Elmsford, New York. Grandchildren; Antoine Finney, Juanita Ingram, Brittany Finney, Ashanti Via and great granddaughters Skylar Sykes and Miracle Finney. There are also many other nieces and nephews.

Juanita remained in the Floyd community her entire life. She devoted her life to her church; The Mount Zion Christian Church, and was a church leader in many church activities. She was well known to the Floyd residents, having worked for the Harris Cleaners and family for many years. Juanita was also active in the Finney-Via family reunions. She attended the Harris Hart school in her younger years and completed the highest grade available at the time. Juanita enjoyed being a fashionista and never met a stranger a day in her life. She will be missed by so many.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday March 6, 2018 at Mt. Zion Christian Church in Floyd, Va at 11:00 am.
