Frank Irvin Figgins, Jr., 78, of Appomattox, Virginia, passed away on February 1, 2022. The world has lost a great husband, father, and brother.

Frank Figgins, Jr. was born on November 4, 1943 to Frank Irvin Figgins, Sr and Thelma Virginia Figgins. He and his wife, Patsy Ann Hutchison, met as neighbors on Pageland Lane. They married on April 15, 1967. Frank and Ann had four children – Gregory Brian, Tammy Marie, Patti Lynn, and Jason Keith. They have been blessed with several grandchildren – Stephanie, Emrys, Hunter, Jonathan, Autumn, Victoria, Hannah, Brian, Makenna – and a great grandchild – Liam.

Frank worked at the National Gallery of Art for about 40 years. He retired a couple of times before finally moved to Appomattox. He loved being a member of the VFW. He was an active member in his church, the Church of God in Lynchburg.
Frank liked working around the house, making wood crafts, and playing with his grandchildren. He liked to stay busy. He and Becca, his dog, were often seen playing in the yard or going on car trips.

Anyone who knew Frank, knew that he was a kind and loving man, who valued his family above all. He was a bit of a prankster, and loved a good joke. He would do anything and would go out of his way for his family and friends. He had a huge heart. Frank’s family and friends will miss him more than words can say. He will continue to live on in the hearts and minds of everyone who was fortunate enough to have met him.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his memory to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV.org) or Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA.org). These were two charities to whom Frank regularly donated.

There will be a small graveside service on Thursday, February 10 at 2:00pm at the McCoy Family Cemetery. At a later date, there will be a celebration of life. Family and friends will be notified when the plans have been finalized.
