Ferrell, Constance Elaine
Constance (Connie) Elaine Ferrell, 70, of Radford, and formerly of Narrows, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 in the loving care of Radford Health and Rehab. Connie was born on February 10, 1954 in Radford, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her mother, June Andrews Lawson, and brother, Mike Ferrell.
Affectionately known as Miss Connie, she was the eldest of five siblings and began her journey of being a caregiver at a very young age so it was no surprise when she chose nursing as her career. After working at Giles and Montgomery hospitals, she became an 11-7 pediatric charge nurse at Princeton Community. Her wisdom, gentle touch, and selfless heart afforded her the extraordinary capacity to love and she was a source of comfort to countless young lives and their grateful parents.
Miss Connie nurtured many hearts beyond the walls of a hospital through her faith and boundless love. She was a beacon of unwavering friendship and trustworthiness and gifted in the art of caring. These traits remain a living testament to her life as a servant leader. Her heart was endless – raising siblings, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and in caring for the children in her beloved Bethel Chapel nursery where she desired to teach them Bible stories and make sure every child felt loved and valued.
Miss Connie’s interests led her beyond the reflection of love as her hands were busy with baking, cooking, reading, or solving word search puzzles. No matter the time of day, she was never too busy to embrace a child or offer comfort to a friend.
Left to cherish her memory are Peggy Fraley (Charles) of Narrows, Darryl Ferrell (Vickie) of Pearisburg, Rhonda McCroskey (Jimmy) of Narrows; several nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and her church family all of who were touched by her compassion and generosity.
Miss Connie lived by the words of the Apostle Paul, “And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love” (1 Corinthians 13:13). Her life was an embodiment of this scripture, shown through various acts of kindness and compassion that will live on in the hearts of many.
The family will receive friends at a time of visitation on Sunday, February 2, 2025 from 2:00 to 3:00 PM with a Celebration of Life immediately following in Kendall Funeral Home with Pastor Earl Riggs officiating. Funeral services will conclude at Birchlawn Burial Park in a graveside service on Monday, February 3, 2025 at 2:00 PM where she will be laid to rest.
