Ferrel, James Lloyd (Jimmy)
James Lloyd (Jimmy) Ferrel, 75, of Pembroke, departed this life on Tuesday, August 9, 2011, in the care of Riverview Nursing Home in Rich Creek. Born in Pearisburg on July 30, 1936, he grew up in the Johns Creek Community of Craig County, a son of the late LeRoy Wilson Ferrel and Nellie Snider Ferrel Parcell, and stepson of the late Tobe Parcell. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, New River Ward in Pembroke, had been employed at Virginia Tech, was a Number One Virginia Tech Fan, and loved to watch The Hokies play football. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Robert William Ferrel; and his stepsons, Barry Gene Martin and Gary Dean Martin. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 48 years (married September 13, 1962, in York, S.C.) Margie Williams Ferrel; his sister-in-law, Frances Ferguson Ferrel, of Forest, Va.; his five stepgrandchildren; several beloved nieces, nephews, and family of friends at Riverview Nursing Home. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 11, 2011, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, New River Ward, Pembroke with Bishop Gary Scott and Elder Brandon Webb presiding. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the church from 1 until 2 p.m. before the service.
