Farris, Sylvia Irene Hall

Sylvia Irene Hall Farris, age 94 of Dublin, died Thursday June 20, 2013 at New River Valley Medical Center. She was born on January 20, 1919 in Pulaski, and was the daughter of the late Inez Irene Smith Hall and Albert Grayson Hall. She retired from Klopman Mills, was a charter member of Community Christian Church of Newbern, and was a member of the Republican Woman’s Club. She enjoyed being with friends, and family, entertaining her friends, attending church services and eating out. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe Chapman Farris, and a brother Cecil Grayson Hall.

She is survived by one son; Everett Roscoe Farris, and his wife Deborah of Pinellas Park, FL; two daughters, Sharon Sayers and her husband Maynard of Dublin, and Suzanne Simpkins and her husband Jerry of Rural Hall, NC. She was blessed with 8 grandchildren. Joel Sayers and his wife Jen of Astoria, OR, Carla Albritton and her husband Michael of Pinehurst, NC, Chad Simpkins and his wife Kara of Chapel Hill, NC, Jason Simpkins and his wife Santana of Galax, Chris Simpkins and his wife Carrie of Rural Hall, NC, Christian Farris and his wife Tammy of Palm Harbor, FL, Jon Farris and his wife Heather of Pinellas Park, FL and Joanna Farris of Clearwater, FL. She is also survived by 12 great-granddaughters, and 3 great-grand-sons. The family appreciates the staff of Highland Ridge for the kindness and love they showed Sylvia and also the Carilion Medical Center in Radford for their kindness. Funeral services will be held Tuesday June 25, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Newbern Community Christian Church with four of her grandsons presiding as ministers. Interment will follow in the Newbern Cemetery where her grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. service time.
