Regina Opal Farmer, age 47 of Narrows, VA, passed away peacefully at her home on June 29, 2022 after a long battle with cancer, with her family by her side. She had just arrived home from spending the day with her mom and her daughter, and sat down to rest. They are eternally grateful for that time they had with her, and that she was feeling well enough to get out for a while.

Born November 24, 1974 in Bethesda, MD, she was a daughter of Mary Horne and Dennis Hayden. Regina was a 1992 graduate of Tazewell High School, and had attended Southwest Virginia Community College, graduating with an Associate Degree in Journalism.

She is preceded in death by William Farmer, former husband and the father of her two children; a brother, Eddie Hayden; and her father, Dennis Hayden.

She is survived by her mom, Mary Asbury; step dad, Jeff Asbury; two children, Tiffany Farmer of Tazewell, VA and Steven Farmer of North Tazewell, VA; step mother, Sandra Hayden; sister, Judy Roberts and husband, Jeff; two brothers, Jeff Asbury, Jr. and wife, Violet, and Mark Hayden; special cousin, Vicki Eastridge, who was raised as a sister. She is also survived by her companion of eight years, Timothy Howard. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of additional friends and family also survive.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 PM on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at Maplewood Cemetery in Tazewell, VA with Pastor Betty Horne officiating. Interment will follow. Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers.
