David Hughes Farmer, 91, passed away Saturday, April 17, 2010, at his home in Dublin. He was a United States Army veteran having served during World War II, and was retired from the Lynchburg Foundry with 30 years of service.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Kay Farmer Sowers. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Iris Gordon Farmer of Dublin; three daughters and son-in-law, Brenda and Ronnie Stilwell of Belspring, Betty Graham and Patricia Odham, both of Dublin; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Bev Farmer of Dublin, and Kenny and Kathy Farmer of Climax, N.C.; three sisters, Mary Alger and Betty McPeak, both of Radford, and Lilly Nester of Dublin; three brothers, Vernon Farmer of Elbert, W.Va., Edward Farmer of Christiansburg, and Mack Farmer of Radford; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one greatgreat-granddaughter; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with Pastor Doug Testerman officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin where members of V.F.W. Post #776 will conduct military graveside rites. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
