Fanning, Katie Charlton

Katie Elizabeth Charlton Fanning, 93, of Rich Creek, VA, passed away Sunday, August 9, 2020. She was born June 15, 1927 at Ronsford, WV, the daughter of the late Gene & Cordie Burns Charlton.

She worked at Celanese for many years. She was an avid Nascar fan and enjoyed going to races. Her favorite driver was Bobby Allison. She loved all flowers. She especially loved Christmas and enjoyed decorating for it more than anyone.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Wayne Fanning, her brothers, James Charlton, Buck Charlton and Eugene Charlton, and a sister, Pauline Bare.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Russell Fanning; a special pet, “Rowdy”, special niece, Cathy Boggess, special great niece and nephew, Lori Page and Randy Charlton and brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Ronnie & Brenda Fanning, David & Linda Fanning, Jim & Shirley Fanning and Shirley H. Fanning.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at Orchard Cemetery, Ballard, WV, with Pastor Randy Penwell officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made in her honor to A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home, 2508 Walkers Creek Valley Rd., Pearisburg, VA 24134, to help with funeral expenses.
