Her Orthodox Christian faith defined and guided almost every aspect of her life. Out of this devotion, and on the day of her passing, Luba was sharing her Orthodox Christian knowledge with participants in the annual Greek Festival at Holy Trinity Orthodox Church in Roanoke. Besides her Parents and Godparents, Luba was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathryn Marie.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, Wolter; devoted son, David; and precious grandchildren, Jonathan and Stephanie Criner. Surviving family members include her sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathryn and Ed Nikkel of Lovettsville, Virginia, Nina and Alec Seizew of Levonia, Michigan, and Maria Torkelson of Milwaukee Wisconsin; her sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law, Elizabeth McCrae of Windsor, Vermont, Virginia and Dennis Ullery of Barton, Vermont, Jean Fabrycky of Parsons, Kansas, and Janet and Alan Fabrycky of Blacksburg, Virginia; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
