evans_sandra_hopkinsSandra Hopkins Evans, 66, of Rich Creek, passed at away at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital on Thursday afternoon, May 1, 2014. Born in Narrows, Va. on December 1, 1947, Sandy was a daughter of John E. Hopkins Jr. and Lora Chambers Hopkins. She was retired from The Kroger Company with more than 35 years of service. Following her retirement, Sandy worked for several years at The Corner Market in Rich Creek, where she enjoyed seeing so many customers who were also friends. Sandy was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Jeffrey Allen Evans; her brother, John E. Hopkins III; and her sisters, Rebecca Lester and Nancy McDaniel.

She is survived by her son, Brian Evans (Rachel), of Gonzales, La.; her grandchildren, Kayla and Dylan Evans, of Gonzales, La.; her sisters, Mary Brown (Jim), of Pearisburg, Peggy Irvin, of Pembroke, Ruby White (Wayne), of Salem; a special niece, Cindy Dowdy (Tim), of Narrows; a special nephew, Wayne McDaniel (Lisa), of Salem; and a special friend and former spouse, Bobby Evans (Barbara), of Christiansburg. Sandy is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows, with the Rev. Doug Hyndrich officiating. Burial will follow in Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Rich Creek.
