Evans, Mary Alice

Mary Alice Evans, 96, of Blacksburg, died Friday, January 14, 2011 at Lewis Gale/Montgomery Regional Hospital. She was born in Montgomery County, Va. on March 17, 1914 to the late Grady ad Dora Alice Cromer. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Frank H. Evans, and two granddaughters, Andrea S. Humphries and Alice S. Humphries, one sister, Grace Cromer, three brothers, Frank (Bud) Cromer, Grady (Hoyle) Cromer and John Cromer. She is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Elizabeth and Paul Gates of Virginia Beach, Margaret Ann Evans of Blacksburg, Ada Sue and Steve Humphries of Blacksburg; three sons and daughter-in-law, Don and Audrey Evans of Montpelier, Va., Frank (Tommy) Evans of Montpelier, Va., John Wayne Evans of Gum Tree, Va.; twelve grandchildren, Tena Evans, Lena Evans, Matthew Evans, Lisa Burnetti, Chris Evans, Kenny Evans, Tony Humphries, Dallas Evans, Mary Helen Evans, John Jr. Evans, Rachel Evans, Autumn Evans; thirteen great-grandchildren, Chase Evans, Davis Evans, Jeffery Fulmer, McKayla Fulmer, J. P. Burnetti, Jordon Page Burnetti, Corbin Jones, Carlee Jones, Addison Evans, Braxton Dallas Evans, Hunter Humphries, Tristan Polk, Cody Polk; three nephews, Grady Cromer, Eddie Evans, Jerry Cromer. The family wishes to thank Dr. Stockberger and his staff, Dr. White and his staff, her caregiver, Denise Crockett and her family, and the friends who supported Mrs. Evans and the family though her illness. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at 2 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Richard Gilbert officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg. Friends may call any time after 12 noon Monday and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, SW, Blacksburg.
