evans_marion_brownieMarion Brownie Evans, 59, of Pearisburg, Va., passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2009, at the Montgomery Regional Hospital, Blacksburg, Va. Born on March 20, 1950, in Monroe County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Newman B. and Alma Campbell Evans.

Brownie worked in production at the Celanese Corporation and was a United States Army Veteran.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Danny Evans; two brothers-in-law, Jim Hines and Curtis Taylor; and a sister-in law, Judy Evans.

Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Barbara J. Shaver Evans; three sons, Marion “BJ” Evans Jr. and wife, Lori, of Pearisburg, Va., James Michael Evans and wife, Crystal, of Christiansburg, Va., and Tim Wilson, of Pembroke, Va.; one daughter, Tammy W. Dent and husband, David, of Blacksburg, Va.; three brothers, Jackie Evans and wife, Ruby, of Peterstown, W.Va., Glen Evans, of Glen Lyn, Va., and Rocky Evans and wife, Gail, of Gap Mills, W.Va.; three sisters, Joan Hines, Minnie Taylor, and Jerry Riffe and husband, Tom, all of Lindside, W.Va.; sister-in-law, Joan Gunter and husband, Buck, of Lindside, W.Va.; five grandchildren, Heath and Natalie Wilson, London Dent, Caden and Celia Evans; and several nieces, nephews and special friends.

Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 17, 2009, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel, Peterstown, W.Va., with Pastor Paul Broyles and Pastor Jimmy Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in the Birchlawn Burial Park, Pearisburg, Va., with Military Rites. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 16, 2009, at the funeral home.
