Howard “Buddy” R. Evans, Jr., 75 of Staffordsville, VA went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 27, 2021. Buddy was born on October 9, 1945 in Pearisburg and was a son of the late Howard “Sonny” R. Evans, Sr. and Ola Meredith Evans. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Carol Martin, three brothers and a step-son, Brian C. Simpson.

Buddy was a retired employee of the National Gypsum Lime Plant in Ripplemead. He loved hunting and fishing and going to Claytor Lake to hang out with his friends and family. He loved watching football, especially the Kansas City Chiefs and the Giles High School Spartans. He never met a stranger and was always laughing and telling jokes.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Monica P. Evans of Staffordsville, two sons, Timothy Evans, Shane Evans (Kayla) of Staffordsville, two daughters, Lisa Harris of Little Creek, Diane Evans of Pulaski, step-daughter, Sabrina Simpson of Narrows, nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one sister, Dreama Vaught (Syl) of Ripplemead and many nieces, nephews and In-laws and his caregiver, Shannon Dillon.

A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at 1pm at the Givens – Riffe Funeral Chapel in Narrows with Pastor Eddie Kendall and Charles Henderson officiating with burial following in the Fairview Cemetery in Narrows. The family will receive friends at the funeral chapel one hour before the service. We will be observing COVID-19 precautions, please wear a mask and social distance.
