Estes, Lura Lovern

Lura C. Estes, 83, of Blacksburg, passed away Friday, September 15, 2017. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence S. Estes Jr.; parents, Virginia and Daniel Lovern; and brothers, Melvin Lovern and Dewey Lovern. Lura is survived by her three loving sons, Harold Estes (Ethel), Dennis Estes and Larry Estes (Hope); grandchildren, Jennifer Gilley, Stacy Estes, Micheal Estes and Brittany Estes; great-grandchildren, Ashley Estes, Josh Gilley, Amanda Gilley and Colton Estes; brothers, Sonnie Lovern, Tony Lovern and Wardie Lovern and sisters, Pat Linkous, Linda Linkous, Hazel Roop, Phala Shepheard and Bessie Epperly. Lura enjoyed cooking, shopping, crocheting and spending time with her family and friends who she loved dearly. The family would also like to give special thanks to the caring staff at Blue Ridge Cancer Care. The family will receive friends Monday, September 18, 2017 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at 1 p.m. at the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Linkous officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
