Claudine Huffman Estes, age 96, went to be with Jesus on Thursday, July 25, 2019. Claudine was born September 30, 1922 in Princeton, West Virginia to Howard and Venus Osborne Huffman.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her Husband of 41 years, Minor Rutherford Estes and Grandson Darian R. Moore.

She leaves Daughter Barbara E. Moore (husband Jerry Ray), Son Don R. Estes (wife Patricia), Loving Niece, Mary Diane Burns, Sister, Jacqueline Rose, Grandchildren Celestial Ann, Deane Clay. and Candace Claudine Moore. Step-Grand Children David, III, and Onitsha Trigg, Great-Grandchildren Kirsten, Vincent, Austin Doss, Gamon and Alexia Trigg, Great-Great Grandchildren Ky’leke (Kyle), Kayden, and Julius, Jr.

She and her husband raised their family in Craig County VA where they worked jobs and farmed. She graduated from business school in
Princeton, WV, was a devoted Christian and held many duties in church. She was employed in the Emergency Department, Radford Army Ammunition Plant, early in her career, and then retired after 20 years of service from Craig County Public School System. She was a member of the Maywood Garden Club.

Claudine was an Extremely Hard Worker. She worked her public job, came home and rested for about an hour, then prepared the evening meal, after which she then gardened or canned. She prepared large home cooked meals at holidays for family and liked to make home-made breads.

She played piano and sang, Alto her specialty. She attended church every Sunday and taught her children to do so and also taught Sunday School. She fixed flower arrangements to put in the church for services.

She sometimes walked about 1/2 a mile for exercise. Claudine appreciated and loved all her family, friends and school children. She was long-suffering, never displayed an anger spirit, and believed in discipline and good manners. She took care of her mother-in-law when she could not do so herself. Claudine, her Mother and two children visited on occasion her Grandmother Osborne, a preacher, in West Virginia who evangelized with a tent ministry along with her husband’s help. Claudine took trips to church conferences and visited abroad.

Claudine, a Beloved Mother, will be sorely missed by family and a great number of friends, some of which she has been reunited with now in Heaven. Claudine was 96 years old when she departed this earth to go to Heaven to be with God and her Savior, Jesus Christ and through the many years, Claudine loved God, Church, Family, Friends, Children and those who might have less than her.

Funeral service will be Monday, July 29, 2019 at Gravel Hill Christian Church, Simmonsville at 3:00 pm with visitation at the church before service. The church will be available for visitation beginning at 1:00 pm. Burial will be at Ross Cemetery, New Castle.

Kendall Funeral Home, Pembroke, VA is handling arrangements.
