Epperly, William Curtis

William Curtis Epperly, 95, of Wytheville, passed away Friday, April 6, 2012. He was the son of the late William Jacob and Alma Martin Epperly. He was born in the Little River Community of Montgomery County. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, and retired after more than 40 years in banking. He was a lifetime member of the Wytheville Lions Club and a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church for over 50 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Helen King Epperly; sisters, Myrtle E. Simmons, Beatrice E. Myers, Esther “Woodie” Parr; and brother, Roy G. Epperly. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Jackson L. Case IV and Sherri Epperly Case, of Seymour, Tenn.; grandson, Curtis Jackson Case; son, Douglas M. Painter and his son, Curtis “Chip” Painter, of Max Meadows; niece, Louise S. Puryear, of Salem; nephew, Fred E. Myers, of New York, NY. Several other nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held noon Monday at the St. Paul United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Rae Mullins, with the interment in the Kings Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at St. Paul United Methodist Church Monday from 11 a.m. until service time. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the St. Paul United Methodist Church or to the King’s Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund. Grubb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
