epperly ruth inezRuth Inez Epperly, 90, of Blacksburg, died Friday, September 30, 2011, at Kroontje Health Care Center. She was born in Montgomery County on November 30, 1920 to the late Mark Jennings and Ida Brown Alls Slusser and was also preceded in death by her husband, Enever Douglas Epperly, and three brothers, Glennie, Ralph and Logan Slusser, and one sister, Loella Dowdy. Inez retired from Va. Tech Printing Services. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Ruth and Fredrick Rice, of Ocklawaha, Fla., Glenna Jarrell and Haven Lawson, of Blacksburg; sons and daughters-in-law, Doug and Donna Epperly, Don and Tammy Epperly, both of Blacksburg; grandchildren, Daphne, Stewart and wife, Betty Anne, Raymond, Nikki and Joe, Kayla and Ryan; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren; brother, Wilbur and Carole Slusser, of Newport News; sisters, Lou Lafon and husband, Lamah, of Blacksburg, Jeannie Pendergrass, of Blacksburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will conducted Monday, October 3, 2011 at 11 a.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor John Wertz officiating. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg. Friends may call anytime after noon on Sunday, and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr., Blacksburg Va. The family would like to give their special thanks to the staff, and especially the nursing staff at the Kroontje Health Care Center for their loving care over the years. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Warm Hearth Foundation, 2607 Warm Hearth Dr., Blacksburg, or the Blacksburg Rescue Squad, 200 Progress St., Blacksburg.
