Mary Lee Nance Epling, 86, of Blacksburg, formerly of Wayside Mountain in Giles County, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 3, 2006 at the home of her daughter.

She was born in Narrows on June 1, 1920 and was the daughter of the late Earl William and Laura Elizabeth Elkins Nance. In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence T. Epling; four brothers, Jesse Nance, Dick Nance, Junior Nance and Paul Nance; and two sisters, Ellen Lafon and Inez Carter.

She was a retired employee of Celanese Acetate in Narrows with 42 years service. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends.

She is survived by one son, Donald W. Epling and wife, Violet; a daughter, Janie Harrison and special friend, Joey Linkous, all of Blacksburg; seven grandchildren, Michael Neice of Pearisburg, Joey Neice of Blacksburg, Nathan Epling of Mount Hope, West Virginia, Jamie Epling of Pearisburg, Ashleigh Epling of Pearisburg, Matthew Epling of Narrows, and Stephanie Epling of Pearisburg; five great-grandchildren, Haley Neice, Brittany Epling, Cheyenne Epling, Ethan Epling, and Jimmy Stover; a brother, Harry Nance of Ballard, West Virginia; two sisters, Annie Perdue of Pearisburg, and Juanita Deweese and husband, Marvin of Pulaski; 33 nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 6, 2006 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows with the Rev. Merrell Hedrick officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Rich Creek. The family will receive friends at Riffe’s Funeral Service Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m.
