eller_norman_daleNorman Dale Eller, 69, of Christiansburg, Va., formerly of Slab Fork, W.Va., went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 2, 2011, after a long battle with black lung, surrounded by his loving family and friends. Born on November 24, 1941, in Stotesbury, W.Va., he was the son of the late Mose and Martha Eller of Beckley, W.Va. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his beloved former wife and mother of his two children, Kathleen Eller, of Slab Fork, W.Va. Dale served in the United States Army for three years. He was a coal miner for 41 years, and retired from the A.T. Massey Coal Company. He was a resident of Slab Fork, W.Va. most of his life, and attended the Hotchkiss Missionary Baptist Church while residing in West Virginia. He was an active member of the Good Shepard Baptist Church in Christiansburg, Virginia. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his wonderful grandchildren, listening to gospel music and was an avid fisherman. Those left to cherish the many memories include his loving wife, Linda Eller, of Christiansburg, Va.; one son, Norman D. Eller II and wife, Susanna, of Slab Fork, W.Va.; one daughter, Della Eller and special friend, Gloria Bailey, of St. Albans, W.Va.; one stepdaughter, Amie Phillips and husband, Tony, of Christiansburg, Va.; four grandchildren, Jacob and Katlyn Eller, of Slab Fork, W.Va. and Alex and Logan Phillips, of Christiansburg, Va.; two brothers, Kenny Eller and wife, Rosemary, of Pittsburgh, Pa. and Paul Eller and wife, Linda, of Columbia, S.C.; four sisters, Ann Eller, of Damascus, Md., Brenda Eller, of Beckley, W.Va., Kay Bartlett and husband, Jack, of Bedford, Ind. and Sue Testerman and husband, Ronnie, of True, W.Va. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 6, 2011, at the Good Shepard Baptist Church in Christiansburg, Va. with Pastor Matthew Kirkland officiating and 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2011, at Hotchkiss Missionary Baptist Church on Rt. 54 in Hotchkiss, W.Va. with Pastor Tom Anderson and Pastor Randy Mann officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepard Building Fund.
