ekey kristin lynnKristin Lynn (McDonald) Ekey, of Blacksburg, died suddenly and unexpectedly on Sunday, May 5, 2013, at the age of 31. Kristi was born in Casper, Wyoming on September 20, 1981. She grew up in Fairfax Station, and moved to Blacksburg in 1998. She was a member of the Blacksburg Volunteer Rescue Squad and worked as a Nurse Practitioner in the Emergency Department at Pulaski Hospital. Kristi was an active community member, always finding joy in helping others. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Kristi, a loving wife and mother, is survived by her husband of eight years, Brian; her five year old daughter, Amanda; her one year old son, Benjamin; her parents, Kevin and Lyn McDonald; her brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Jess McDonald and her nephew Ryan; her paternal grandmother, Lorna McDonald; her maternal grandmother, Eleonore Wittenberg; her father and mother-in-law, David and Denice Ekey; and her sister-in-law, Kristen Ekey. She is preceded in death by her grandfathers, Robert McDonald and Rudolf Wittenberg. Arrangements are made with McCoy Funeral Home in Blacksburg, Virginia. Kristi’s family invites all friends and family to visitations on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, from 1 to 3 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m at the funeral home. The funeral service will take place at the funeral home Thursday, May 9, 2013, at 11 a.m. with procession and graveside prayer to follow.
