Roger Edwards, General Registrar of Caroline County for nearly 25 years, passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at his home in Bowling Green Va.

The Pulaski, Va. native came to Caroline as a Trooper with the Virginia State Police following discharge from The United States Marine Corp. Subsequent to 10 years of active duty with the VSP, he found a new calling to public service when he was appointed to the position of General Registrar of Caroline County on April 1, 1983.

With a career of distinguished longevity, Roger acquired a wealth of knowledge and information that he would gladly share with his peers, regardless of their tenure. In his work, the State Board of Elections was known to call him for his opinion on potential changes. Through his career he came to be highly respected by his peers around the commonwealth, serving as a mentor for others in similar positions.

Roger, predeceased by his parents, Andrew and Mildred Edwards, is survived by his sisters, Sissy Pope of Pulaski and Susan Caviness of Dublin; his brothers, Terry Edwards of Georgia and Michael and Jimmy Edwards both of Pulaski; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, December 16, 2007 at 2 p.m. in the Peak Creek Mission Prayer, Case Knife Road, Pulaski. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall of the Family Worship Center on Memorial Drive in Pulaski following the service from 3 to 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Daily Bread, P.O.
