Isom Talmage (Curly) Edwards, 84, of Radford, passed away Monday, February 5, 2007 at the New River Valley Medical Center.

He was born December 8, 1922 in Woodlawn, the son of the late Sidney M. and Betty Mabe Edwards. He attended Woodlawn High School where he was a member of the class of 1943.

Mr. Edwards was the former co-owner and operator of Hurt & Edwards Electric in Radford and he faithfully attended the Belspring United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Navy veteran having served during World War II during which time he was injured during the Normandy Invasion and received a Purple Heart. He was a life member of the VFW Post #776 and the Disabled Veteran’s Association.

He was also preceded in death by brothers, Dean, Claude and Arnold Edwards. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Edith Nester Edwards of Belspring; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Everette and Louise Edwards of Galax and Otis and Janice Edwards of Newport News; two sisters and brother-in-law, Hazel Jones of Salem and Edna and Lloyd Frazier of Cleveland, Tenn.; brother-in-law, Ronnie Nester and sister-in-law, Mary “Lois” Morehead; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews whom he dearly loved.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 8, 2007 at 1 p.m. at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with the Rev. Mike Duncan officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to the National D-Day Memorial Foundation, P.O. Box 77, Bedford, Va. 24523 or to the Belspring United Methodist Church, PO Box 190, Belspring, Va. 24058.
