Echols, Jr., Earl

Earl “Cookie” Echols, Jr., age 84, of Newport died Saturday, November 7, 2020. He was born in Craig County, Va. on July 6, 1936, to the late Estial Earl and Mary Miller Huffman Echols. He is preceded in death by his sister, Sylvia E. Brillhart.

He was a veteran of the United States Army.

He is survived by his wife of over 62 years, Fern Echols, daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Marty Cisek, sons and daughters-in-law, Timmy and Sally Shupe, Lloyd and Marilyn Echols, all of Newport; grandchildren, Jason and Rachel Echols, Laura and Josh Nay, Jacob Echols, Erica Maxey and Matt Ambrose, Cory and Mercy Shupe, Mary Shupe, Mike Cisek, Caity Cisek; great-grandchildren, Sasha, Gabe, Rossi Echols, Matthew Echols, Ashlynn Wilkes, Jaiden and Jonah Nay; numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be conducted Monday, November 9, 2020, at 3:00 pm in the Level Green Christian Church Cemetery with Cory Shupe officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Judes. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
