Eberman, Betty Jo

Betty Jo Eberman, of Blacksburg, died on May 2, 2013, at the age of 76. Betty Jo is survived by her loving husband of nearly 52 years, the Reverend John F. Eberman . They were married in the Virginia Theological Seminary Chapel on June 17, 1961. Betty Jo is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Elizabeth Wiley (Mark), of Radford; her son, Mark Eberman (Kim Bieler), of Silver Spring, Md.; grandchildren, Jim Galecki, Caroline Galecki, Catherine Galecki, Alan Wiley, Ben Wiley, and Mary Wiley; brothers Lyle Griffith (Pauline), Junior Griffith (Shirley), James Griffith (Joyce), Tom Griffith (Mona); sisters, Linda Stacey (Don), and Susie Reilly (Chuck); many beloved nieces and nephews; and countless friends. Betty Jo is predeceased by her brother, Lowell Griffith. She was born in Lebanon on November 21, 1936. After high school, she attended Radford University, graduating with a degree in Education. She earned a Master Degree at Spalding College. She was a fantastic teacher, teaching first graders to read. Betty Jo was a voracious reader, and loved to cook, garden and volunteer. She was a wonderful mother, devoted wife, and intensely loyal friend. The memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 12, 2013, at Christ Episcopal Church, Blacksburg, with the Reverend Scott West officiating. Interment will follow in the memorial garden at the church. There will be a reception following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the organ fund at Christ Episcopal Church, or to the Polycystic Kidney Foundation (PKDfund.org). Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
