Samuel Roy Eaves, 79, of Dublin, peacefully closed his eyes and went home to be with his Heavenly Father on September 12, 2007 at Pulaski Community Hospital after a very long illness.

He was born on October 24, 1927, to the late Ida Eaves and Grove Page. He attended Christiansburg Institute and served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of Mount Pleasant Methodist Church, which later became Dublin United Methodist Church.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Ida Eaves; father Grover Page and three Aunts, Sarah Hendricks, Virginia Reed and Estelle Lindsay. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Christine Eaves; one son, Elroy (Patty) Eaves of Dublin; a loving great-goddaughter, Shamara Calfee and great-godson, Tyree Calfee, both of Dublin; two sisters-in-law, Lucille (James) Hale and Annie Mae (Booker T.) Baldwin, both of Pulaski; a loving niece, Shirley Baldwin Houston of Radford, a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m., on Saturday, September 15, 2007, at Dublin United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be Sunday, September 16, 2007, at 2 p.m., at Dublin United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Bill Rowland, officiating.  Penn’s funeral home in charge of arrangements.
