Eaton, Patrick Irven (Pat)
Patrick Irven (Pat) Eaton, 73, of Pearisburg, Va., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 21, 2011, at the Radford Health and Rehab Center. Mr. Eaton was born on April 19, 1938, in Pearisburg and was a son of the late Charles Cook Eaton and Elizabeth Stafford Eaton. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Wylie S. Eaton and Roland C. Eaton. Mr. Eaton was an United States Air Force Veteran; a retired employee of the Virginia Department of Highways and Transportation with 35 years of service; a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pearisburg; a 50 year member of Eggleston Lodge #309 A.F. & A.M.; past DDGM 41st Masonic District; member Pearisburg Royal Arch Chapter #29; Pearis Chapter # 124 O.E.S.; and a member of Wabash Lodge #189 I.O.O.F. Pat loved spending time on Walker Creek with his brothers and family, was an avid historian and a master storyteller. He loved Giles County and his country. He is survived by his wife, Carole Ann Stafford Eaton, of Pearisburg; two daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa E. and Darrell Link, of Staffordsville, and Cherron and Jason Lucas, of Newport; two sons and daughters-in-law, Tony and Kim Eaton, of Pearisburg, and Cliff and Angela Eaton, of Roanoke; six grandchildren, Josh and wife, Tracy Link, Alex, Caroline, Mary Elizabeth and Nicholas Eaton, and Hannah Lucas; great- grandson, Sawyer Link; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank and Dolores Eaton, of Dallas, Texas, Fred and Dolores Eaton, of Bristol, Va., Thomas and Shirl Eaton, of Glen Allen, Va., and Tobie and Annis Eaton, of Salem; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 23, 2011, at the First United Methodist Church in Pearisburg with Dr. Brad Scott, Dr. Fred L. Austin and Bro. Charles Henderson officiating. Entombment will follow in the Birchlawn Abby in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, September 22, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Pearisburg. Memorial contributions may be made to the Staffordsville Cemetery, c/o Butch Simpkins, 180 Springdale Road, Pearisburg, VA 24134. There will be a Masonic Graveside Service at the Birchlawn Abbey and Military Honors will be given by American Legion Post #68 in Narrows, American Legion Post #311 in Pembroke, and VFW Post #6000 in Narrows.
