East Sr., Reuben Thomas

Reuben Thomas East Sr., 81, of Ellett, on Friday, November 28, 2014 God called one of his servants home. He was born in Montgomery County on November 11, 1933 to the late Samuel Thomas Sr. and Lillie Maud Hall East.

He was also preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Joyce Martin East. He was a resident of Ellett Valley for 81 years, and Deacon of the Midway Community Holiness Church. Mr. East was retired from Cooper Industries as a machinist.

He is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law, Reuben T. East Jr. (Butch), Michael L. and Kellie Anne East; daughters and son-in-law, Arama L. Wolfe and Jim Jachimski, Sherree East Thompson; six grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to his church family, the Blue Ridge Cancer Care, and his neighbors in Ellett Valley for their care and concern.

Funeral Services will be conducted Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at 2 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Pastor Everett Shepherd and Pastor Buck Yopp officiating. Interment will follow in the North Fork Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday evening at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, SW, Blacksburg.
