East, Elizabeth Lavery

Elizabeth Ann Lavery (Tina) East, 85, peacefully passed away at her home on Monday, June 8, 2009, in Blacksburg, Va., surrounded by family members. She was born in Oklahoma City, Okla., to Richard and Flora (Messer) Lavery on December 5, 1923. Tina is preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Robert V. East II; and sisters, Richard Dorothy (infant), Mary Mann, and Jene L. Martin.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, Robert (Bob) V. East on March 6, 1985. Tina and Bob, who married on July 7, 1945, shared an immense passion for traveling. Residents of Miami, Fla., for most of their lives, they traveled to over 25 countries, always encountering unique experiences that were sure to make everyone roar with laughter upon hearing of their latest expedition. She loved animals, classical music, history, playing bridge, and reading.

Tina is survived by her seven children, Bob East III, David East, Pat East, Kelly East, Tim East, Ann Philyaw, and Christina Parodi; 12 grandchildren; and nine greatgrandchildren. A memorial mass will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2009, at St. Louis Catholic Church, 7270 SW 120 St., Pinecrest, Fla. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions are made to the Humane Society.
