Jane Hatcher Earp, 75, of Christiansburg, passed away on Friday, October 27, 2006 after a hard fought battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Edith Hatcher; and a sister, Carolyn Hatcher Craig. Jane is survived by her husband of 52 years, James E. Buddy Earp; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Laura Earp; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Earp and Bayne Sandridge; grandchildren, Rachel Earp, Andrew Earp, Michael Sandridge, and Matthew Sandridge; brothers and spouses, C. W. and Dondra Hatcher and Tommy and Sue Hatcher; cousin, Jimmy White; special niece and godchild, Anne Craig-Cash, and beloved dog, Sam.

Jane retired from Montgomery County Public Schools where she worked as a secretary for Christiansburg Middle School. Her gentle, caring nature and love for family, friends and animals are cherished reminders of her life.

A celebration of Jane’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, October 30, 2006 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church with interment at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the St. Thomas Episcopal Church parish hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 103 East Main Street, Christiansburg, Va. 24073 or the Humane Society of Montgomery County, Box 287, Blacksburg, Va. 24063.
