Robert Lee Dyer – age 89 passed away May 29th with his wife of 63 years, Doris Williams Dyer and daughter, Karen Dyer Inzana by his side. He was born in Powder Springs, Tennessee and grew up in Knoxville Tennessee with his brothers Harold Keith Dyer (deceased) and Omer Owen Dyer Jr. He graduated from Knoxville High School with the class of 1943 and shortly thereafter joined the Navy where he served in the Pacific during World War II. Honorably discharged in 1946, he attended Middle Tennessee State University and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and where he graduated with a masters degree in education. He made his career as a teacher and then an elementary school principal in Knoxville City Schools. After retirement, he became a Lieutenant Colonel in the Civil Air Patrol. An avid golfer throughout his life he was the likely the only person to receive new clubs from the Easter Bunny. He moved to Blacksburg, VA in 2005 to be near his daughter Karen, her husband Thomas Inzana, and grandchildren Christopher, Jason, Jeannine and Alexia Inzana. He was a lifelong member and elder at Fountain City Presbyterian Church before becoming a member of Blacksburg United Methodist Church. A devout Christian, he is now in his heavenly home with his parents Omer Owen Dyer Sr. and Irene Mullins Dyer and brother Harold.

Memorial services will be held at Fountain City Presbyterian Church, Knoxville Tennessee, Friday June 6th at 11:00 am with interment at Lynnhurst Cemetery, Knoxville to follow at 3:00 pm. The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the memorial services in the church parlor.
