Lillian (Lib) Hicks Dwyer, 87, of Blacksburg, Va., died Friday, March 24, 2006, at Kroontje Health Care Center.

She was born in Kings Mountain, N.C., on November 9, 1918 to the late Joseph Grayson and Minnie Bessless Ware Hicks. As a young adult Mrs. Dwyer taught at the North Carolina School for the Deaf. Before moving to Blacksburg, the Dwyers resided in Canton, Ohio, Black Mountain, N.C., and St. Petersburg Beach, Fla. and Lima, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick Francis Dwyer and is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Larry Taylor of Doylestown, Ohio, Sharon Dwyer and Michael Lambur of Blacksburg; son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Lynn Dwyer of Dublin, Ohio; sisters and brother-in-law, Melba Hicks Hemmings of Winston Salem, N.C., Shirley Hicks Adams and husband Bill Adams of Spartanburg, N.C., Verna Hicks Pressley of Spartanburg, N.C.; brothers and sister-in-law, Jack Hicks of Waukesha, Wis., Bob and Velma Hicks of Davenport, Iowa.

Mrs. Dwyer loved to spend time with her six grandsons, Christopher Taylor of Winston, Salem, N.C., D. J. Dwyer of Chicago, Ill., Patrick Dwyer of Miami, Okla., Brian Taylor of Lakewood, Ohio, Sean Dwyer of Lebanon, Ohio, Garrett Dwyer Lambur of Blacksburg, Va.; and five great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be conducted at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kroontje Health Care Center, 1000 Litton Lane, Blacksburg, Va., 24060 and Carilion Hospice Service of NRV, 707 Randolph St., Suite 251, Radford, Va., 24141.
