durmon_myrtle_waddellMyrtle Waddell Durmon, of Pulaski, Va., departed this life on Wednesday, September 1, 2010. She was the daughter of the late Nierce Waddell and Margaret Alley Waddell Anderson. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, David Durmon; a grandson, David Thorpe Bishop; a brother, Jimmy Waddell; and a sister, Blanche Ratcliffe. She worked in various retail stores in Pulaski until her retirement in 1985. Many may remember her from “The Working Man’s Store,” McCroy’s 5 & 10 Cents Store, Roses Department Store, Super Dollar Store and Dollar General Store. Surviving are her daughter, Tanya Cromer, of Dublin; brother-in-law, Neal Wirt, of Pulaski; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Grace and John Ritchie, of Lakeland, Fla.; special friend, Russell Bush, of Collinsville, Va.; and many nieces, nephews, friends and a very special surrogate family who helped care for her. Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 4, 2010, from the Stevens Funeral Chapel. Entombment will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens Mausoleum, Dublin. Visiting will be held on Saturday at Stevens Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the service hour.
