Duncan, Rosa Velvet

Rosa Velvet Duncan, 49, of Riner, went to be with her Lord on Thursday November 3, 2011. Her life was centered around her children, grandchildren, and the Lord. She is preceded in death by her mother, Juanita Carter; siblings, Ricky, Russell, and Jenny Carter, Mike Blankenship, and Brian Whitaker; uncle and spouse, Utah and Lula Carter.

She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Allen Duncan; father and “mother”, Melvin and Peggy Carter; daughters, Sarah Kelly Duncan, Charity and Daven Lewis; grandchildren, Carmen Lewis, Destiney Duncan, Dayonna Lewis; sisters and spouses, Rhonda Carter, Christiana and Hivera Green, Susan and Billy Duncan; brothers and spouse, Robert Carter, Ronnie and Carmella Carter, James Carter; special “son”, J.W. Thompson; aunt, Mevalene Lucas; special niece, Sherry Tickle; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins; and special friend, Catrice Cheek.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday November 7, 2011 at DeVilbiss Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert Barr and Rev. Cameron Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow at the Turpin Family Cemetery in Radford. The family will receive friends Sunday, November 6, 2011 from 6 to 8 at DeVilbiss Funeral Home.
