Duncan, Ralph M.
Rev. Ralph M. Duncan, 81, of Floyd, passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2013. Ralph married the love of his life, Shirley K. Duncan, on September 4, 1954. Ralph worked at Burlington Mills for 20 years. In 1969 Ralph and Shirley took over Midway Grocery & Oil Company and ran it for 40 years and passed it down to their sons, but still had a hand in the store. Ralph was ordained as a Reverend for over 30 years and was the Pastor at Burks Fork Church of the Brethren. Ralph was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and he loved a good game of golf. He is in Heaven with a golden putter now. He is survived by his wife, Shirley K. Duncan; sons and daughters-in-law, Steven W. and Joyce Duncan, Eugene G. and Angelia Duncan, Glen N. and Susan Duncan, Brian A. Duncan; grandchildren, Heather and Stephen Higgs, Travis and Crystal Duncan, Shawn and Amanda Duncan, Shane Duncan, Brandon Duncan; great-grandchildren, Dustin Higgs, Stephanie Higgs, Dominick Higgs, Hunter Higgs, Caitlyn Higgs, Carlee Dell Duncan, Gracie Mae Duncan, Luke Isiah Duncan; sisters-in-law, Glendola Duncan, Barbara Duncan, Iva Tolbert, Edna Weddle, Peggy Bishop; brother-in-law, James Keith and wife Doreda; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at Topeco Church of the Brethren with Pastor Roy Turpin, Pastor Mike Battle, and Pastor Mike Varner officiating. Interment to follow in the Topeco Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, February 25, 2013, at the church.
