Paul A. Duncan, 86, of Punta Gorda, FLA. / Christiansburg, VA. passed away on March 12, 2017.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, ElFreeda McNiel Duncan; parents Oscar Eddie & Myrtle Walters Duncan; brother Leonard Eddie Duncan.

In life, Paul A. Duncan was a visionary, entrepreneur, and a good business man. His upbringing in Pilot, VA. instilled a work ethic to go challenge the world and not be afraid to take risks. He felt that if you stay humble, work hard and always work on your craft, that success would always find you. Paul believed that hard work created opportunities. Mr. Duncan served the automotive industry by being a Ford Dealer in Blacksburg, VA. for 53 years, a Mazda Dealer For 42 years and served on the Virginia Automobile Dealer Association (VADA) Executive Board. Mr. Duncan served his community by being a long time Executive Board Member of The National Bank of Blacksburg & National Bankshares. In 2015, New River Community College honored Mr. Duncan with its first ever honorary Bachelor’s Degree in honor of his accolades in business and service to the New River Valley.

He is survived by his wife, Dianne Hale Duncan; brother, R.B. Duncan and wife Marilyn; his sons Gary A. Duncan and wife Rhonda, Gerald E. Duncan and wife Sharon, David P. Duncan and wife, Edith-Anne; daughter Martha D. Miller and husband Eugene; grandchildren Nicole Miller Yarborough and husband Steven, Tiffany N. Miller, Jason Hopkins, Courtney Hopkins, Eddie Duncan, Jake Duncan, Georgia-Kathryn Duncan and Paul S. Duncan.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 16, 2017 from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM and a reception from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Duncan Ford Lincoln Showroom. The Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 17, 2017 at 11:00 am at Blacksburg United Methodist Church (BUMC) with Pastor Joe Carson officiating. There will be a private ceremony for the family graveside at Sunset Cemetery in Christiansburg, VA after the Celebration of Life Service at BUMC.
