Duncan, Margaret Louthen
January 27, 1935 ~ April 18, 2009 Margaret L. (Pat) Duncan, died unexpectedly after routine heart surgery in Sacramento, Calif. Pat was preceded in death by her beloved son, Tom.
She is survived by her loving and devoted daughter, Debby Hinman and her husband, Jeff, of Cameron Park, Calif. She is also survived by her sister, Carol Fielder and her husband, Stan; her brother, Ronnie Louthen and his wife, Judy, of Bluefield, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
Pat began her career in education as a teacher at Liberty High School in Bedford, Va., in 1967. Over the years she developed curriculum for high school research in science and mathematics. In 1991 she moved to Pulaski, Va., to be Director of the Southwest Virginia Governors School, from which she retired in June 2008. During her time in Pulaski, she became actively involved at Heritage Church where she became a deaconess. Through these activities she earned the respect and admiration of thousands of students, parents, educators, business people, government officials, and her church family.
A celebration of Pat’s life will be held 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at Heritage Church in Dublin, Va.
