Duncan, James Ralph

James Ralph Duncan, 81, of Christiansburg, died Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born in Riner, VA on July 5, 1932 to the late James Clayton and Lola Phillips Duncan.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Eva S. Duncan; five brothers, Oden, Samuel, Cereal, Benson, and Arvil Duncan.

He retired from VDOT after 35 years of service. Ralph was a U.S. Army veteran having served in the Korean War.

He is survived by his two daughters, Linda Sue Duncan and Brenda Lee Duncan, both of Blacksburg; a son, Bentley Duncan, Christiansburg; a step-son and step-daughter-in-law, Donnie and Loretta Alls, Blacksburg; one sister, Frances Elizabeth Sowers, Riner; Bernard (Rudy) Duncan, Riner; one grandson; step-grandchildren, Kristi Jones and husband, Gary, Kelli Adams and husband, Jim, Craig Alls and wife, Kim, Chad Alls; step great-grandchildren, Cameron and Ashli Adams, Lauren and Haleigh Alls.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 11:00 am in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Frank Peters officiating. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 am until service time at McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
