Cereal Cline Duncan, of Christiansburg, traded his life here on earth for his home in heaven on Sunday, March 11, 2012. Born on December 13, 1924 in Floyd, he was preceded in death by his parents, James Clayton and Lola Phillips Duncan, his wife of 55 years, Frances Chrisman Duncan and two brothers, Oden and Sammy Duncan.

Cereal retired after 36 years from Lynchburg Foundry and served our country in World War II as a Navy veteran. He was a member of Edgemont Christian Church and was a Deacon Emeritus.

He is survived by a son, Donald Cline Duncan and wife, Kathy, of Christiansburg; a sister, Elizabeth Sowers; brothers, Orvil and wife, Barbara, Benson, Ralph and Bernard Duncan. Also surviving are three grandchildren and spouses; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at 10 a.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Peter Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association , Central and Western VA Chapter-Roanoke Region, 2728 Colonial Ave., Suite 2, Roanoke, VA 24015.

A special thanks to Amedysis Hospice for their support and nursing, especially Ashley. Thanks also to his most recent caregivers, Teresa, Faith, Richard and Jessica.
