Duncan, Calvin Leon

Calvin Leon Duncan, 75, of Newport, died Thursday, March 15, 2012, at his home. He was born in Craig County on April 13, 1936, to the late Opie Lee and Mattie Greenway Duncan, and was also preceded in death by his wife, Dorthena “Tensie” Duncan; his sister, Marlene Bradley; and nephew, Opie Layne Persinger.

He is survived by his sister, Mary L. “Weasy” Persinger, of Craig County; two stepsons, Tony Gardner and wife, Angela, of New Castle, Troy Dean Gardner, of Floyd; mother-in-law, Della Simpkins; four stepgrandchildren, Laureen and husband, Adam Sparks, Tonya Gardner, Tia Gardner, and Drake Gardner; brother-in-law, Rodney and Kitty Keffer and daughters; sister-in-law, Vicki and E. B. Smith and son; nephew, Robbie W. Bradley II and son; four nieces, Twila O’Hara and daughters, Tequila Persinger and children, Tanya Persinger and Children, Troy Sabrina Persinger; and special friend, Lori Gardner.

The viewing will be Saturday, March 17, 2012, from 1 to 2 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive SW, Blacksburg. A Graveside Service will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the Williams Cemetery, Craig County., with Mr. Bill Frazier Officiating. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home Blacksburg.
