Surrounded by her family, Joan Fletcher Dunbar died, Wednesday, October 13, 2021 and a beautiful soul left this earth. Joan was born and raised in Giles County Virginia and lived her whole 65 years there.

Married at 16, a Mother at 17, Granny to one much loved Granddaughter and to many more “loved” grandchildren, she endured much but persevered to give to others and leave this world a better place for her having been here.

She is survived by her Sister and Brother-in-law Barbara and Leon Cassell of Wytheville, VA, her Brother-in-law and Sister-in-law Donnie and Donna Dunbar of Pembroke, VA, her much loved Granddaughter Tiffeney Dunbar and Andy of Christiansburg, VA. She leaves behind also Kaylie and Deven Reynolds and Danielle Burleson, her grandchildren by love. She is also survived by her Sister-in-law Betty Fletcher of Salem, VA, and her Brother-in-law and Sister-in-law Kevin and Barbara Dunbar of Goodview, VA, several nieces and nephews, her special friend Joan Burleson, and many Friends. Dixie, her little dog, misses her very much.

She lived for 26 years without her son, Junior, and for 17 years without the love of her life, Duane Morris Dunbar. She was predeceased also by her Mother and Father, Lillian and Wallace Fletcher, and by her Brother Wallace R. (Butch) Fletcher.

She didn’t want a funeral; said it was “too much waste of money!”
