Chester (Chet) Richard Dreyer, 86, of Blacksburg, passed away Friday, November 23, 2012, peacefully at his home. He was born in Renovo, Pa., September 3, 1926, to the late Charles and Mary Dreyer. After proudly serving in the United States Navy aboard the USS Robert A. Owens and honorably discharged in 1951, Chet moved to Blacksburg, where he resided and began a family. Chester was a member of the Church of Christ and had served as a deacon of the church. Chet had worked for Hercules and retired from there and began working for the Montgomery County Recycling Center. Chet loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Mildred Faye Dreyer, of Blacksburg; daughter, Lisa Moss, of Blacksburg; sons and daughter-in-law, Dan Dreyer, of Kannapolis, N.C., Timothy and Betsy Dreyer, Lodi, N.Y., Gregory Dreyer, of Blacksburg; sisters and brother-in-law, Carol Lou and Jim Whitman, of Colorado Springs, Colo., Amy McCool, of Altonia, Pa.; brother and sister-in-law, Harry and Hazel Dreyer, of Philadelphia, Pa.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 27, 2012, in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Mr. Dennis Curd officiating. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice . Friends may call anytime after noon Monday and the family will receive friends from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Monday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive SW, Blacksburg.
