Dowell, Thomas Spencer

Thomas Spencer Dowell, 66, of Pulaski, Va., went to his home in heaven on Monday, November 8, 2010, in Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born on April 27, 1944, in McDowell County, W.Va., and was the son of the late Thelma Blankenship Dowell and Spencer Dowell.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, and a retired employee of Radford Army Ammunition Plant of 40 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Spencer Dowell II. He is survived by his wife, Julia (Ann) McDaniel Dowell; two sons, John Chapman Dowell and his wife, Pam, of Fairlawn, and Michael Dean Dowell, of Pulaski; a daughter, Catherine JoAnn Dowell, of Roanoke; a brother, William (Billy) Dewey Dowell, of Pulaski; three sisters, JoAnn Lindsey, of Shiloh, Mary Jane Blankenship, of Pulaski, and Mona Dowell, of Pulaski. He is also survived by three grandchildren, James Michael (Jamie) Dowell, Casie Marie Dowell, and Chandler Spencer Dowell; and two greatgrandchildren, Brooklyn Renee Dowell and Aidyn James Dowell. Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. on Thursday, November 11, 2010, at Seagle Funeral Home with Pastor Ray Kingrea officiating. Interment will follow in New Dublin Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, November 10, 2010, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
