Dowdy, Robert Howard

Robert Howard Dowdy, 68, of Christiansburg, went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 11, 2011 at Lewis Gale/Montgomery Hospital. He was born in Blacksburg on July 19, 1942 to the late Lawrence and Della Cooper Dowdy. He was also preceded in death by his son, Scotty Wayne Dowdy, his daughter, Cindy Kay Dowdy, a sister and several brothers.

He is survived by the love of his life of 32 years, his wife, Dora Jane Dowdy, of Christiansburg; brother, Earl Dowdy; sister, Betty Stover; his children, Doris Ann King, Robert Lynn Dowdy, Michael Shawn Dowdy and Daniel Ray Dowdy; stepchildren, Renee Smith, Pamela and Larry Criner, Karen Quesenberry, Brian and Susan Smith, Tina Harris and Kathy Kozar; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, February 13, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Cambria Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Jerry Shepherd and the Rev. Jube Burk officiating. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday evening at the Cambria Pentecostal Holiness Church.
