Dowdy, Robert Chapman

Robert Chapman Dowdy, 86, of Christiansburg, Va. passed away on Friday, January 5, 2018. He is preceded in death by his parents Sid and Mildred Dowdy, of Christiansburg; Granddaughter Ashley Dowdy, of Blacksburg; brothers Posey L. Dowdy and Marshall (Jack) W. Linkous; sisters Kathleen Melton, Thelma (Tootsie) Hutchison, and Hazel Reed.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Irene (Jo) Wood Dowdy; sons Robert Michael Dowdy and wife Kathy of Blacksburg; Gary Lynn Dowdy and
friend Misty of Christiansburg, grandson Joshua Dowdy of Christiansburg, great-grandsons Mason, Max and Maddox of Roanoke; Sisters Margaret Gearheart and Magdalene Harris.

Robert served in the Untied States Army in the Koran War; he proudly served from 1952-1954. Robert loved time outdoors and spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed farming and will be missed by so many.

The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday January, 09, 2018 at Horne Funeral Home at 2:00 pm Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial
Gardens with Military Honors. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 09, 2018 from 12-2:00 pm, prior to service.
